Supporting PIs through the change: engagement pack
As part of the Purchasing Hierarchy Project, Principal Investigators (PIs) will now be required to approve requisitions made against their budgets as Budget-Holders.
An engagement pack is available to help departments manage the upcoming changes for PIs and support them through it. The pack includes:
- a slide deck from the Supporting PIs session on 24 July, which includes:
- example purchasing hierarchies
- a blank purchasing hierarchy process template for departments to fill in to demonstrate their own hierarchy
- information about what's changing for PIs
- guidance on how to communicate effectively with PIs about their new responsibilities
- information about training options, which PIs will need to take in order to approve or reject requisitions
- email templates for finance manager to use to communicate the change, and what actions need to be taken, to PIs in their area
- instructions on how to use mail merge, so that you can individualise your communications to PIs
