Supporting PIs through the change: engagement pack

As part of the Purchasing Hierarchy Project, Principal Investigators (PIs) will now be required to approve requisitions made against their budgets as Budget-Holders.

An engagement pack is available to help departments manage the upcoming changes for PIs and support them through it. The pack includes:

  • a slide deck from the Supporting PIs session on 24 July, which includes:
    • example purchasing hierarchies
    • blank purchasing hierarchy process template for departments to fill in to demonstrate their own hierarchy
    • information about what's changing for PIs
    • guidance on how to communicate effectively with PIs about their new responsibilities
    • information about training options, which PIs will need to take in order to approve or reject requisitions
  • email templates for finance manager to use to communicate the change, and what actions need to be taken, to PIs in their area
  • instructions on how to use mail merge, so that you can individualise your communications to PIs
